How to Get a Guy to Remember Special Occasions

One of the most annoying and difficult things to do in many relationships is figuring out how to get a guy to remember special occasions. This happens to so many couples that there should be volumes written on this topic. Women like to have such things as their birthdays and anniversaries remembered and celebrated. But for many guys, there seems to be a block where things like that are concerned.

To begin with, you need to move past the hurt feelings you experience every time your guy forgets your birthday, or your anniversary, or even Valentine’s Day. Yes, it would be wonderfully romantic if he remembered all of those days on his own. But, for many men, that just does not seem to be possible. However, if YOU forget your man’s birthday there will most likely be hell to pay. He will want to know why he does not have a nice birthday dinner, a cake, and remarkable gift waiting on him. For some men, it would not even register to be told that they forgot birthdays, too. It is all too confusing and maddening to deal with.

Something else to consider is that women’s brains seem to be hooked up a bit differently. They ALWAYS remember special days. A lot of them even remember the ones that are a bit obscure that hardly anyone celebrates. Men do not seem to be made that way.

Taking all of that into consideration, one way that will help your situation is to buy some nice big wall calendars to hang in different rooms of the house. He will be in the kitchen at some point every day, as well as your bedroom, and the bathroom. If you have calendars hanging in those rooms, he WILL see them. That is why you need to write all of the special days of each month on these calendars. Yes, you need to write them out on every calendar so that he will not have an excuse to have forgotten. Make sure that you write these down for the month ahead at the end of the previous month.

Another method that is in the same vein as the calendars is to put a desktop calendar on your computer and set it up so that it reminds the users of any special dates programmed into them. You can also have your guy to set up an online calendar that will send automatic emails to him when a special day is coming up. There are so many electronic gadgets these days that you should be able to find the right one that he will be able to use.

There is always the super direct way of just telling him ahead of time. For example, he may start talking about going fishing with the guys next weekend and that just happens to be your birthday. That is the perfect time to ask him if there is not something else important that is coming up next weekend? Of course, you may have to simply come out and TELL him, but that is better than having him make all those plans to be gone the weekend of your birthday. You will be upset, hurt, angry, and be experiencing a myriad of even more emotions. He could just come home to find his bags packed and the locks changed.
